BfE receives hundreds of startup applications yearly from all around the world. The selected few that enter our programme are assigned to a student team and paired with one or more professional mentors, based on a variety of factors such as location, industry and project needs. As our mentorship database rapidly grows, it becomes infeasible to do the pairing manually.
Our Technology team is developing and testing an algorithm leveraging on classical statistical methods and Natural Language Processing tools to produce pairing recommendations based on a combination of structured and unstructured data.
BfE receives 10K USD in kind from Google for Nonprofit every month to promote our opportunities and services via Google Ads. The challenge is to choose the appropriate keywords, regions, webpages and advertisement plan to maximise views and conversion rate from our target audience - mainly social entrepreneurs that may qualify for our free services.
To make the best decision, our team has analysed past website traffic data in combination with startup application data, while consulting our global leadership team on strategic plans in expanding into new regions. **This project will be available again soon as new configurations are needed for our new website and techniques such as A/B testing may be performed to obtain more robust evaluation of our strategies.**
This is a long-term project to build an intranet web platform within BfE, which will facilitate resource-sharing and automate many of the time-consuming manual operations. Basic integrations with internal apps such as Google Workspace, Slack, Hubspot and the new public website are being developed to provide an integral user experience within BfE. In the near future, We will also be building a new public platform that will make our learning resources available to the wider social impact and startup community via free subscriptions.
